Rep. Michael Thompson, known as "Baghdad Mike," and Fidel Castro break bread and share a bottle of wine in February 2002. Then, on the eve of the US bombing of Iraq, he teamed up with two other congressmen and traveled to Iraq where they denounced President George W. Bush, essentially calling him a liar.

Rep. Mike Thompson, along with fellow Democrats McDermott and Bonior, traveled to Iraq to denounce the President. Appearing from Baghdad on ABC’s This Week, the Baghdad 3 denounced the President, calling George W. Bush a liar.

When asked by reporters about activities of the Baghdad three, neither Kerry nor Edwards would voice any criticism.

But House Majority Whip Tom Delay said “hurling reckless charges from hostile soil strays over the edge."

Congressman “Baghdad Mike” Thompson

Congressman Mike Thompson may be even more liberal than the most liberal member of the U.S. Senate, John Kerry!

Rep. Mike Thompson, along with fellow Democrats McDermott and Bonior traveled to Baghdad to denounce the President. They are known as the Baghdad 3. Appearing on ABC’s This Week, from Baghdad the 3 denounced the President, called him a liar.

In a joint press release all three issued and posted on their websites, they criticized U.S. saber rattling and pounding of war drums. They talked of the impact another war would have on innocent Iraqis and the dangerous implications of a unilateral, preemptive strike on U.S. National Security.

Upon arrival in Baghdad, they told reporters they reject the policy of aggression dominating the U.S. administration. They said: “We are three veterans of the Vietnam War who came over here because we don't want war. We assert from here that we do not want the United States to wage war on any peace-loving countries. The Iraq Daily Reported that Rep. Thompson and other members of the U.S. Congress delegation has underlined that their visit aims to get acquainted with the truth of Iraq's people sufferings due to ongoing embargo which caused shortage in food and medicine for all Iraqi people.

The paper reported: The "U.S. Congress delegation visited hospitals and saw a woman supplicating to Almighty God to revenge from criminal Bush and U.S. administration for the criminal crimes he and his administration perpetrated against Iraqi children through preventing them from the simplest life necessities due to the continuation of the unjust sanctions on Iraq." Next to this Iraq Daily story on the Baghdad 3, was an article on Saddam's continuing financial support for the families of Palestinian suicide bombers – which the paper described as martyrs.

When asked by reporters about activities of the Baghdad 3, neither Senator Kerry nor Senator Edwards would voice any criticism against the Baghdad Three!

House Majority Whip Tom Delay said “hurling reckless charges from hostile soil strays over the edge."

Air Force veteran Lawrence Wiesner is challenging Baghdad Mike in November. Wiesner said, “Anyone who would denounce his country on enemy soil on the eve of war should be in jail – not in Congress.”

At the end of WWII, “Tokyo Rose” was convicted of treason for giving aid and comfort to the enemy.

Bush haters go abroad, bad mouth America, then return and report the President is ruining U.S. credibility. Filmmaker Michael Moore held a London press conference, calling Americans “stupid people.” Later he asked the Germans how they liked being lead by a bunch of dumb people – referring to America.

What did Moore get for his comments? A seat in Senator Kerry’s box at this year’s Democrat National Convention! Unbelievable! This is a trend that started with “The Baghdad Three’s” trip to Iraq before the war.

Suddenly, it became okay to speak out publicly against our nation, on foreign soil, in a time of war. And John Kerry obviously thinks it is just fine.

Help us spread the word about “Baghdad Mike” in his district.
